Services for J.W. Hembree were held Friday, November 24, at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church in Marietta with the Rev. W.P. Powland as the officiating minister. Mr. Hembree died November 21, following a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1928 at Oswalt and had lived his entire life in Love County where he had worked as a carpenter. On December 3, 1949, he was married to Mary Cavins in Gainesville, Texas. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mary Hembree of the home in Marietta; two sons, Randall Hembree of Marietta and Kelly Hembree of the home; three daughters, Sue Warthen of Marietta, Patsy Payne of Mannsville, La. and Sandy Hembree of the home; four brothers, George (Mutt) Hembree, Les Hembree and Odie Hembree, all of Overbrook, and Jim Hembree of Oologah; four sisters, Mary Phillips of Santa Paula, Calif. Netty Nelson of Fillmore, Calif. Laura (Polly) Grubbs of Ft. Worth, and Vida Jackson of Ardmore and four grandchildren. Interment in the Simon Cemetery was under the direction of the Goodrick Anderson Funeral Home. Serving as casket bearers were J.M Jackson, Charles Harris, Leighton Flannagan, Harvey Stewart, Edgar Wilson and Olen Vernon.
