Her full maiden name was Ophelia Opal Baker. She first married William Henry Horace Reed on April 7, 1892 (her birthday) in Lawrence Co., Alabama. They divorced in 1922 and she then married John Lear Sain in 1923. His last name is sometimes spelled Saine. Opal's place of birth was shown as Mount Hope (Lawrence Co.), Alabama on her death certificate. However, she put birth date of April 7, 1873 in Russellville (Franklin Co.), Alabama on her Social Security Application. Opal was shown as Ophelia in most census records. However, the 1880 census in Lawrence Co., Mount Hope, showed her with her mother and sisters and Ophelia Opal Baker was listed as "Frany Baker". Her death certificate showed her father as Frank Baker and her mother as Mary Martin. Her Social Security Application showed her parents as Frank Baker & Mattie Martin. However, her older sister Mollie's death certificate ( Mollie H. Baker Henderson ) showed the names as John Baker and Martha Ann Martin. According to census records, her mother's maiden name was Martha Ann Martin. Martha Ann Martin married George Baker on Dec. 14, 1862 in Lawrence Co., Alabama. It's unclear exactly what Opal's father's exact name was, but George Frank John Baker has been used by this researcher. ----- Courtesy of CHB
