Benny Joe Gehardt By Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, Bonham Jan 17, 2015 Bonham, Texas -- A memorial visitation for Benny Joe Gehardt, 71, of Honey Grove, Texas will be from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, Bonham, Texas. Mr. Gehardt passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Red River Regional Hospital, Bonham, TX. Benny Joe Gehardt was born in Plainview, TX on September 26, 1943 to Max and Ruby Lee (Eden) Gerhardt. He married Claire Jane (Ballard) Gehardt on January 31, 1962 in Floydada, Floyd Co., TX. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2010. Ben was a retired carpenter, licensed electrician, had worked at Supreme Beef packing plant in Ladonia, Carles sausage in Whitewright, and Derose. He loved fishing, camping, cookouts, and spending time with family. Benny Joe Gehardt is survived by children, Brenda Holman and husband David of Sash, TX, Wanda Cecil of Bonham, TX, and Christy Gray and husband Paul of Bailey, TX. Grandchildren, Mandi Hunter, Honey Grove, TX, Jason Stanley, Greenville, TX, D.J. Pool, Coolidge, AZ, Michael Holman, Sash, TX, Heather Hendrix, Guthrie, Ok, and Zachary Cecil, Bonham, TX. Great grandchildren, Lexie Hunter, Dillon Hunter, Jayden Pool, Keiston Pool, Angel Stanley, Chandler Holman, Addie Hunter, Braxton Stanley, and Kolton Pool. Brothers, Fred Gerhardt and wife Sally, Max Gerhardt, II and wife Snow; sisters, Rosa, Sally, and Clara. He is also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John Gerhardt, and Billy Mack Gehardt, and grandson, Jadon Hunter.
