THE PARIS NEWS, Thu., Jun. 23, 1994, p.6A Herschel Lawrence Garrett, 79, formerly of 305-28th NE, died Wednesday, June 22, 1994, at the home of his daughter, Rt. 7, Paris. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, in Providence Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Thursday and will be at the home of Sharon Fisher, Rt. 7, at other times. Mr. Garrett was born July 30, 1914, in Red River County, a son of Samuel Knox and Ninnie Stafford Garrett. He attended Red River County schools. He married Mildred Stephens Sep. 30, 1933. He was a member of Springlake Baptist Church and had operated an appliance repair service for many years. Surviving are his wife of Bogata; three daughters, Betty Clark of Arlington, Sharon Fisher, Rt. 7, Paris and Margaret Moore of Paris; two sons, Deward Garrett of Paris and Bruce Garrett of Roxton; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Maggie Mitchell of Vancouver, WA; and a brother, Harold Garrett of Avery.
