AUSTIN -- Gladies S. Wangen, 91, of 808 First Drive N.W., a longtime area homemaker, died Saturday (July 30, 1994) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home here. Gladies S. Nasby was born Nov. 20, 1902, in Oakland Township, Freeborn County, grew up there and attended an area rural school. On April 5, 1922, she married Clarence Wangen at Oakland Midway Lutheran Church. In 1936, they moved to Albert Lea and lived there until moving to Riceland Township in 1945. She lived in Riceland Township until her husband's death in 1966. She had resdied in Austin since 1968. Mrs. Wangen was a member of Oakland Midway Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, WECA and church circles. Survivors include two sons, Winferd of Hayward, Minn., and Stanley of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Betty Jean (Mrs. Ellsworth) Jackson of Austin; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jennie Holmquist and Lulu Rolf, both of Austin, and Valfreda (Mrs. Chester) Cronkhite of Oakland; and two brothers, John Nasby of North Bend, Ore., and Norwin Nasby of Minneapolis. Seven brothers and a sister preceded her in death. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oakland Midway Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Graef officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Oakland. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary here and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
