AUSTIN -- The funeral for Betty Jean Jackson will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Oakland Lutheran Church, with the Rev. LaDonna Ekern officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Oakland. Mrs. Jackson, 75, of Austin, retired co-owner of the Steer Restaurant, died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2001) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. Betty Jean Wangen was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Oakland and graduated from Albert Lea High School. On Aug. 30, 1962, she married Ellsworth Jackson in San Diego, and they made their home there until moving to Austin in 1976. Mrs. Jackson was a waitress, and after returning to Austin operated the Steer Restaurant with her husband until retirement in 1990. She was a member of Oakland Lutheran Church, WELCA and church circle, and served on the church council. She was active in a number of charitable organizations including the March of Dimes. Survivors include her husband; two sons, James. H. (Panetta) of St. Albens, Vt., and Roger (Sarah) of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Anna (William) Mylinski of Tampa, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Winferd Wangen of Hayward, Minn., and Stanley G. (Judy) Wangen of Atlanta. A granddaughter preceded her in death. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the church. **********************************
