Bio

Alice Deon Phillipsen, 84, died Sept. 2, 1987 in Nephi, UT. She was born Feb. 2, 1903 in Nephi to Charles Alfred and Persis Hughgene Rudd Painter. She married Earl G. Whiting June 17, 1918, but Earl died July 4, 1928. She then married Frank Phillipsen Nov 18, 1931, and they were later divorced. She was a member of the LDS Church, and had been a Primary, MIA, and Sunday school teacher, and nursery leader. Her hobbies were braiding rugs, crocheting, and doing other creative work. At the time of her passing, Deon’s surviving children were, Mrs. Theron (June) Butler of Payson, UT, Mrs. Harvey (Elaine) Oaks of Vale, OR, and Clarence “Bud” Phillipsen and Mrs. Von (Doris P.) Newton, both of Nephi; 25 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nina Tanner Chappel of Loa; and three brothers, Fred L. Painter and Reese Painter, both of Nephi, and LaRaine Painter of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter.
