Bio

Louis Schroer and Elda Quade were married in Jackson County, Indiana, on December 16, 1934. OBITUARY: Louis Schroer Services Monday; Was Two-Term County Auditor Louis H. Schroer, 81, of 1102 S. Walnut Street, Seymour, died at 9:36 p.m. Thursday at Jackson County Schneck Memorial Hospital following a six-month illness. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, Mr. Schroer worked for Blish Milling Co. for 23 years. He owned and operated Schroer's Grocery Store on Seventh Street, Seymour, for six years. Mr. Schroer was Jackson County auditor for eight years and was employed by the Indiana Department of Revenue in Indianapolis for 12 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Elks Lodge 462; Dudleytown Conservation Club,, Branch 432 of Aid Association for Lutherans and American Association of Retired Persons and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Lutheran Layman's League. Born October 24, 1909, in Washington Township, Jackson County, he was the son of August and Minnie Steinkamp Schroer. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, he married Elda Quade December 15, 1934, in the Sauers community in Jackson County. She survives. Other survivors include two sons and two daughters; three brothers, Alvin Schroer, Oscar Schroer and Williar Schroer, all of Seymour; one sister, Mrs. Robert Schepmann, Seymour R; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg and the Rev. David McClean will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service, Burkholder Chapel, Seymour and from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to Concordia Seminary of Fort Wayne, the American Cancer Society r the donor's choice. Published in The Tribune (Seymour, Indiana) October 5, 1991, page 4.
