Burkholder Funeral Chapel (Seymour, Indiana) Elda Charlotte Philipina Schroer November 07, 1910 - April 27, 2009 (age 98) Elda Charlotte Philipina Schroer, 98, a long time resident of Seymour, IN, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. For the last eight years, she has been a resident of the Lutheran Home of Arlington Heights, IL. Born November 7, 1910 in Brownstown, Elda was the daughter of the late William and Caroline (Nierman) Quade. She married Louis H. Schroer on December 16, 1934 and he died on October 3, 1991. Elda and her husband operated Schroer Grocery for 6 years and then she worked for J. C. Penney for 10 years and then retired from Wienhorst Grocery in 1979. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the Ladies Aid #1. Some of Elda's hobbies included quilting and gardening. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wonderful friend to all. She is survived by 4 children: Richard L. (Carol) Schroer, Sr. of Spicewood, TX, Donald (Peggy) Schroer of Lilburn, GA, Barbara (Harry) Wiggins of Downers Grove, IL, and Janet (Ray) Pemoller of Palatine, IL; 9 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bill) Corry, Richard (Claire) Jr., Douglas (Alicia), Scott (Lisa), Andrea, Timothy (Linda) Schroer, Michael (Bonnie) Wiggins, Karen (Jon) Grzbek and Mark Wiggins; 24 great grandchildren: Lauren, Grace, Willie and Ted Corry, Richard III, Augie, Grady, Fiona, Harriet, Eloise, Tiffany, Zachary, Tucker, Tanner, Madison, Julia, Blakely and Emery Schroer, Julianne, Emma and Brad Wiggins, A.J. and Ryan Grzbek; also surviving many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 brothers Roy, Omer and Orlan Quade. Visitation will be held at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, May 1st, from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2nd, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated for Immanuel Lutheran School, 520 S. Chestnut Seymour, IN 47274. The Republic (Columbus, IN) 30 Apr 2009 (Thursday, pg. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Burkholder Chapel in Seymour. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour. Mrs. Schroer is survived by children, Richard L. (Carol) Schroer Sr. of Spicewood, Texas, Donald (Peggy) Schroer of Lilburn, Ga., Barbara (Harry) Wiggins of Downers Grove, Ill., and Janet (Ray) Pemoller of Palatine, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 24–great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Schroer.
