Mrs. Ben O’Connor, 75 (above) of 1122A South 12th St., Manitowoc, lifelong resident of city and county, died early Monday at the Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mittnacht Funeral Home with a requiem mass at 9 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Alfred Pritzl officiating. The Rev. George Beth of Mishicot, a cousin of Mrs. O’Connor, will be deacon and the Rev. Earl Brouchoud of Manitowoc, subdeacon. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born Catherine Scherer in Two Rivers in 1876 and in 1905 was married to Mr. O’Connor and they located in Manitowoc. Her husband was a mail carrier out of Manitowoc Postoffice for many years, retiring a few years ago. He died in 1949. She was a member of the Altar Society of the Sacred Heart congregation and the Cathlic Women’s Club. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Ben Bartelme and Mrs. John C. Bull of Manitowoc, Mrs. Eugene Polinski of Chicago; four sons, Francis and Robert of Manitowoc, Richard of Milwaukee and T/Sgt. John in the air corps at Roswell, N.M.; and 16 grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home after Tuesday noon, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Altar Society and at 7:30 by the Catholic Women’s Club.
