YOAKUM - Julius Peter Zissa, age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014. He was born in Dryer, Community of Gonzales County on June 29, 1923 to the late August and Janie Schramek Zissa. He was a retired leather worker from Tex Tan and Torel Leather Companies. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and K.J.T. He is survived by daughters, Janie Fitzgerald and husband Mike of Telferner and Joyce Bludau of Victoria; grandchildren,Heather Williams and husband Jason of Victoria, Mike Fitzgerald, Jr. of Telferner, Tiffany Juett and husband Justin of Victoria, Brandon Bludau and wife Brigid of Fairfax, VA, and Vanessa Bludau of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Lilly Williams, Penny Williams, Kadence Juett, Kyndra Juett and David Bludau. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Mary Rosie Sandelovic Zissa; sisters, Lillian Vlasek, Mary Svoboda and Olga Head; brothers, Albert Zissa, Edward Zissa, Lebert Zissa, Ernest Zissa and Billy Zissa and son-in-law, David 'D.J.' Bludau. Funeral mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Peters officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Fitzgerald, Jr., Jason Williams, Justin Juett, Earl Cretors, Marcus Cretors and Charlie McKay. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Bludau, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, great-grandson and Charlie Bennetsen. Arrangements by Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home 361-293-5656.
