Nathan “Mike” Kolbo, 90, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at Dodge City. He was born March 9, 1924 at Calloway, Nebraska, the son of Timothy A. and Nettie May (Bridges) Kolbo. He joined the United States Army in 1943, serving during WWII, and retiring in 1965 as a Chief Warrant Officer. A longtime resident of Pratt, he worked for Pratt Glass Company for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He then became a Veterans Medical Advocate at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico. In 1996 he moved to Ft. Dodge, later moving to Forgan, Oklahoma and returning to Ft. Dodge on June 15, 2013. In October of 2013 he and his children went on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC. He was an avid woodworker, with a specialty project of making flag cases for veterans. In August of 1947, he married Doris Cockrell in Pratt. They later divorced. On April 7, 1979 he married Vesta Brown Eikler at Pratt. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2000. On July 27, 2003 he married Frances Underwood at Forgan, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clell Kolbo and a sister, Priscilla Stinman. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Ft. Dodge Chapel, Ft. Dodge with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Friends may call from noon to 5:00 pm Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge with full military rites by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Honor Flight in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
