Richard R. Kavan, Morse Bluff, Dec. 12, age 87 Richard R. Kavan of Morse Bluff passed away Dec. 12 at his home. Richard was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Morse Bluff to Joseph and Tillie (Mach) Kavan. He served in the US Army during WWII from Feb. 22, 1946, to May 2, 1947. Richard married Dorothy Wesely on Jan. 10, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill. Richard was a surveyor, farmer and livestock producer who loved to help family, friends and neighbors. He was a "jack of all trades." He also worked on the construction of Highway 79. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill and a member of American Legion Post #340 of Morse Bluff. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter Diane (Dan) Kortum of Cedar Bluffs; brothers Joie and Ruben Kavan both of Morse Bluff and Lester (Marlene) Kavan of Des Moines, IA; sisters Maxine (Bernard) Kratky of Prague, Joan Kavan of Wahoo; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren with two more on the way; sisters-in-law Mildred (Arsene) Fauquet, Bette (Roger) Hinrichs, all of Lincoln. Funeral Mass was Dec. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill officiated by the Rev. Jeremy Hazuka. Memorials are suggested to Morse Bluff Volunteer Fire Department, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Morse Bluff / North Bend Veterans Memorial Park. Burial was at the Fleming Cemetery.
