Bio

Magdalen Janda Barta passed away on Tuesday, November 25th in New Caney, TX at the age of 88. Born in Hostyn, TX, "Maggie" lived most of her life in Houston. She was a loving wife and mother, a gentle soul, who enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her family and singing. She sang in the church choir at St. Gregory the Great Church in Houston, where she was a member for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil E. Barta; her parents, Frank and Minnie Janda; sisters, Judith Barta and Rose Schramm; and brother, Bohus Janda. She is survived by her son, Daniel Barta and wife Jeanette, of Kingwood, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jimmie Burns of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Tammy Barta, James Barta, Julie Harrison, Jim Brewer and wife Elena, John Brewer and wife Elizabeth, Mark Brewer and wife Jennifer, Matt Willis and wife Carolyn, Darrell Burns and wife Beverly and Deborah Young and husband Aaron; 26 great grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Billie Janda, Alphonse and La Dell Janda and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, December 1st, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 10500 Nold, Houston, TX until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, celebrated by Father Francis Huan Ngo. Interment will immediately follow at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, TX. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Total Loving Care in New Caney for the compassion and care provided to Maggie.
