Alphonse Francis Janda, 84, of El Campo, passed away March 19, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1939 in Hostyn to the late Frank and Minnie Mensik Janda. Alphonse served in the National Guard for 30 years. He worked for Miller Motor Co. and was the first in El Campo to become a certified auto mechanic. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, La Dell Vinklarek Janda of El Campo; daughters, Kelly Korenek and husband Michael of Nada, Jacqueline Eggemeyer and husband Larry of Victoria and Kim Warzecha and husband Chester of El Campo; son, Bryan Janda and wife Marsha of El Campo; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alphonse was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Melinda Ann Janda; brothers, Albert Janda and Bohus Janda and sisters, Judith Barta, Magdelin Barta and Rose Schramm. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Monday, March 25 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje with a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251 will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo. Pallbearers will be Todd Korenek, Ryan Korenek, Kyle Korenek, Kirkland Eggemeyer, Christopher Janda, Matthew Janda, Joa Janda and Ivan Faldyn. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Graham, Wade Graham, Sean Korenek, Michael Korenek, Larry Eggemeyer, Chester Warzecha and Marsha Janda.
