Bio

Louise Hermansen, 91, passed away Jan. 10, 2012, at Linden Court in North Platte. She was on born May 30, 1920, in Arnold to Port and Emma (Potter) Long. She grew up in the Logan, Lincoln and Custer County area and attended rural schools. On July 30, 1939, she married Virgil Hermansen in Tryon. To this union was born two daughters. The family lived in Logan County for 18 years. They moved to Arnold after the tornado in 1975 destroyed the farm buildings. Louise worked several jobs in the Arnold community including the Arnold Bakery, Arnold Livestock Cafe, Marj's Cafe, Arnold Schools, the library and helped Virgil mowing at the cemetery. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and visiting with her friends. Other activities she enjoyed were attending dances, reading, playing cards, walking and crocheting. She made and gave away hundreds of Afghans. Survivors include daughters, Karen (Raymond) Holt, of Arnold, and Lila (Bill) Pile, of Gurley: six grandchildren, Tina (David) Pate, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Shane Holt, of Arnold, Wade (Keena) Holt, of North Platte, Nikki Holt, of Arnold, Tom (Julie) Pile, of Sidney, and Brian Pile, of Casper, Wyo.; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Twyla Kramer, of North Platte; one sister-in-law, Frances Long, of North Platte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; three brothers; and five sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, at the United Methodist Church, of Arnold, with the Rev. Dale Coates officiating. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
