Frank Hrdy Jr. was born Aug. 18, 1914, to Frank Hrdy Sr. and Anna Hlavaty Hrdy in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1934 and attended diesel mechanic school in Chicago. Frank married Rose Ruzlcka of Banner on Aug. 6, 1952, in Yukon, OK. She preceded him in death in July 1997. He was a farmer all of his life and served on the board of directors at Banner Coop for many years and was awarded outstanding service to the Future Farmers of America and honorary chapter farmer in El Reno. Recently, he was awarded the Centennial Award by the Canadian County Extension Office. A resident of Okarche, OK., he died at the age of 100, Nov. 6, 2014, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Survivors include one son, James (Jim) Frank Hrdy and wife Nancy of El Reno; three daughters, Elaine Rose Straka and husband Ben of Moore, Anna Marie Hrdy of Okarche and Jerri Lynn Knauss and husband Kevin of Kingfisher; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; two brothers, Jerry Hrdy and Milos Hrdy, and one sister, Helen Halacka. A graveside memorial service was held Nov. 10, at the El Reno Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Smith and Turner Mortuary in Yukon.
