Graveside services 11 a.m. Saturday, El Reno Cemetery Pavilion (Wilson, El Reno). ∼ From Wilson's Funeral Home Online January 20, 2013 Milos Hrdy Graveside services for Milos Hrdy will be held Saturday, December 8 at the El Reno Cemetery pavilion, officiated by Rev. David Fox. Milos Hrdy passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the VA Center in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 82. Milos was born in Lovell, Oklahoma, on June 25, 1930. He lived on the family farm north of El Reno from the age of 2 and attended Elm Glen rural school. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1948 and Oklahoma State University in 1965 with a bachelor of science degree in Agriculture. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a First Lieutenant in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer who worked as a land surveyor for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, and was a crew clerk with the Rock Island Railroad. During his high school years he was active in the 4-H club and played the trumpet with the high school band. Milos was recognized as the youngest farmer to earn the grand champion award at the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City with his steer, Royal Tone. As a teenager, under the tutelage of Riley Tarver, Milos won three grand champions at the American Royal Junior Livestock Show with two prize barrows and his steer. Milos was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Hrdy, and older brother Jerry Hrdy. Also, his former wife of 30 years, Barbara Wilds, preceded him in death. Milos is survived by his daughter, Karen Barnett and husband, Sam, step-daughter, Lynette Springer, step-son, Larry Springer and wife Joyce. He was a prideful grandfather of four grandchildren, Ryan Barnett of El Reno, Landon Long of Denver, Lisa Wohler and husband Patrick of El Reno, Jennifer Garrett, and husband Jerrod of El Reno, and five great grand-daughters. Also, his loving sister, Helen Halacka, and brother Frank Hrdy, both of El Reno along with a host of many nieces and nephews. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was passionate about the friendships he made over the years and loved to talk to people about life, farming and his family. He will be missed and remembered for his deep blue eyes, smile, great sense of humor, and love of life.
