Graveside rites for Cora H. Nordhougen Medhus, 93, of Gresham, Ore. will be held Sat., July 31, at 1 p.m. at the Leeds Lutheran Cemetery. She died July 16, 1999 in Gresham. Pastor Betty J. Stedman will officiate. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds is in charge of arrangements. Cora Henrietta Nordhougen Medhus was born Aug. 22, 1905 in Aneta to Carl & Hannah Bue Nordhougen. The family moved to Leeds in June of 1912. She graduated from Leeds High School & received her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teachers College. She taught school in Divide County. She married Sigurd Medhus & they farmed near Leeds. In 1938 they moved to Portland, Ore. She sold real estate & obtained her broker's license in 1957. She continued with DBA Northwest Realty until 1973. During this time she also bought, refurbished & sold a number of homes. Survivors include a son, Sigurd Medhus of Henderson, Nev.; 2 daughters, Phyllis Detrick of Anchorage, Alaska & Audrey Sorg of Gladstone, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; & special friends, Truman & Deborah Nordhougen, Howard Spoklie & Margaret Medhus Teitell.
