Bio
Twila Jane Berman, 92 of Wahoo, NE, died peacefully at Saunders Medical Center Long Term Care in Wahoo on Friday, October 24, 2014. She was born in Wahoo, NE on January 3, 1922 and was the first child of Vennie and Bessie (Mach) Nemecek. She graduated from Wahoo High School in 1940 and completed business school in Lincoln. Wanting to do her patriotic duty, she enlisted in the Women's Army Air Corps (WAAC) during WWII and was stationed in Fort Myers, FL. There she met her future husband, Harry Berman. They married in Florida and settled in Wahoo upon his discharge from the service. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family. Twila worked at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant in Mead in the early 1950's and subsequently went to work for the University of Nebraska as their Field Lab office manager until her retirement in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry and her three brothers, Edward, Thomas, and Ven Jr. Surviving are daughters, Carol (Phil) Hester of Lombard, IL and Susan Gutschow of Harrisonburg, VA; grandsons, Robert (Wendy) Hester, David (Alicia) Gutschow, and Daren (Kendra) Gutschow; great-grandchildren, James and Zachary Gutschow, Siena, Julia, and Maya Gutschow; beloved nieces and nephews. Pastor John Duling will be officiating the service.
