Herald Coaster, July 18, 1982: Funeral services for Frank John Mikel, 64, of Damon are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First English Lutheran Church in Damon with Rev. Erwin H. Knit presiding. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial. Mikel died Thursday at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. Friends may call at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel after 3 p.m. Sunday. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Helen Mikel of Damon; four sons, James F. Mikel of Freeport, Glenn H. Mikel of West Columbia, Gary F. Mikel of Guy, and Randy A. Mikel of Pasadena; four sisters, Annie Jakubec of Damon, Marie Noles of Damon, Josie Jakubec of Damon, and Della Dodds of Freeport; three brothers, Jodie Mikel of Brazoria, Ernest Mikel of West Columbia and Johnnie Mikel of Guy; and four grandchildren. Mikel and his wife, Minnie, were married Nov. 18, 1945. He was active in community affairs, working with Boy Scouts and his church. He also was a member of the Lions Club and had served on the school board. The family requests memorials be made to the First English Lutheran Church in Damon.
