Homer was the oldest of 3 children of William Franklin Burchett and Bertha "Nellie" Cole Burchett. He married Edna Iona Glazebrook on June 25, 1919 in Leon, Decatur Co, IA. They were the parents of 3 children, Mildred "Madge" Burchett Strubhar, Donald "Gale" "Speedy" Burchett and Agnes Lorene Burchett Gaumer.
