Bio
Rose D. Petr, 88, passed away June 21, 1998. Survived by her husband, Joseph R. Petr, of the family home; sisters, Mary Pohlmeier and Alice (Everett) Rex of Pueblo; brother, David (Loretta) Vap, Colorado Springs; numerous nieces, nephews and 12 godchildren. Preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Kucera, and sisters-in-law, Emma Kucera and Mary Landon. Mrs. Petr was born in Deweese, Neb., on Dec. 27, 1909, to Enos and Frances (Hlavac) Vap. Rose taught in rural schools in Nuckolls and Clay County, Neb., for six years before her marriage to Joseph Petr on Aug. 15, 1933, in Deweese, Neb. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Aug. 14, 1997. Mrs. Petr had been a member of Shrine of St. Therese parish since 1954 and was also a member of Eucharistic Association of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Altar and Rosary Society, Cancer Sewing, Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima and Queen of Peace Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council 557. Rose was employed by Logan's Drug Store and Schuster's Bakery until her retirement. Visitation, noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10 a.m., Shrine of St. Therese. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Shrine of St. Therese.
