Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa Wednesday, March 11, 1953, Page 20 Sigrid Madsen’s Rites on Thursday at Cedar Falls Cedar Falls--Final rites for Miss Sigrid Madsen, 59, who died Tuesday following a long illness, will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Rev. Holger O. Nielsen. burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Miss Nielsen was born on a farm in Black Hawk county Sept. 12, 1893, the daughter of Andrew C. and Karolin Henriksen Madsen. She grew to womanhood here and graduated from Grandview College, Des Moines and Iowa State Teachers College here in preparation for a teaching career. She taught school until a few years ago, when she retired on account of ill health. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church of Cedar Falls. Survivors include four brothers and four sisters. They are Einar Madsen, Parker, Colo.; Helge F. Madsen and Bernhardt Madsen, both of New Hartford; Hart S. Madsen, 1609 Franklin St.; Mrs. V.M. Hansen, Bridgeport, Conn.; Mrs. Peder Pedersen, Ringsted, Ia.; Mrs. C.B. Jensen and Mrs. Julia Madsen, 1604 Washington St. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
