RI Argus - Monday - June 12, 1939 Harry H. Howard, 53, of 104 Thirteenth avenue, Rock Island, former Three-Eye league pitcher for the Rock Island club, died at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon in St. Anthony's hospital following an illness of several years. Mr. Howard was born April 8, 1886 in Nelson, Neb., and resided there as a child. When a young man he entered organized baseball and played with Nebraska clubs until 1907, when he was purchased by the Rock Island club. He pitched with the Islanders until early in 1909 when an arm injury forced him to quit baseball. Later Mr. Howard became a member of the carpenters' union here, and worked at that trade until seven years ago, when ill health forced his retirement. He married Miss Nida BeLiel in Ord, Neb., on March 31, 1905. Mr. Howard was a member of the Moline Full Gospel temple. Surviving are the widow, two sons, Donald D. Howard of Rock Island, and Dick Norman Howard, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Molee and Mrs. Harriet Trone, both of Rock Island; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Paddock of Ord, Neb., and six grandchildren. The body was removed to the Knox mortuary where funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. The Rev. A.W. Kortkamp, pastor of the Moline Full Gospel temple, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
