Herald Coaster, April 9, 1996: Funeral services for Sidney I. Vacek, 79, of Orchard, will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at 10 a.m. at Guardian Angel Church in Wallis. Rev. Stuart Emmert will officiate the service. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Rosenberg. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 1996, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Knesek Funeral Home in Wallis. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Vacek was born on July 25, 1916 in Dubina. He died on Sunday, April 7, 1996, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mathilda Horak Vacek, and his brothers, Ivan and Victor Vacek. Mr. Vacek is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Orchard; his daughter, Betty and Richard Vacek of Sugar Land; his sons, Kenneth Vacek and wife, Rose, of Sugar Land, and Larry Vacek and wife, Kathleen, of Westchester, Oh.; sister, Dorothy Hollas and husband, Eugene, of Schulenburg; and brothers, George and wife, Della Vacek, of San Antonio, Jerome Vacek, also of San Antonio, and Marcella Vacek of San Angelo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Theresa and Vinton.
