Bio

Name = Carrie Olson Dates on Tombstone = Nov. 11, 1844 - Nov. 3, 1917 Spouse 1 = Andrew Jacobs Spouse 2 = Matts Olson Maiden Name = Carrie Mattson Jacobs Parents Name = Matz & Anna (Ericdoyer)(1) Erickson (Skeri Matts Erson and wife Anna Ersdotter) Mrs. Matts Olson On Saturday, Nov. 3, occurred the death of Mrs. Matts Olson at her home in Uehling. About four years ago Mrs. Olson suffered a stroke of paralysis, and since that time she had been in a helpless condition, but kind hands gave her the best of care. Mrs. Matts Olson was born Nov. 11, 1841, at Vattnas, Mora, Sweden. In 1866 she was united in wedlock to Andrew Jacobs, in Sweden. To this union were born three children, Two of them died in infancy; one survives her. The family immigrated to America in the year 1870 and resided for a short time in Omaha, where the husband died. In 1872 Mrs. Olson was again married, at Fremont, to Matts Olson. Eleven children were born to this union. Four passed to the great beyond before her. Down at Swaburg, only a few yards from the Lutheran church, Mr. Olson took a homestead. The family prospered greatly and accumulated nearly a thousand acres of Nebraska's most productive land. A few years they lived northeast of Oakland, a mile south of Bertha, but then moved back to Swaburg. Something like a dozen years ago, when the children had grown up and left the parental home, Mr. and Mrs. Olson moved to Uehling. There Mr. Olson died four years ago. Of the many who mourn her demise are the seven children; Andrew Jacobs, Craig, Nebr.; Eric Olson, Hooper, Nebr.; Willie A. Olson, Hooper, Nebr.; Alfred Olson, Craig, Nebr.; Mrs A. L. Anderson, Hawarden, Iowa; Mrs. Ambrose Ericson, Hooper, Nebr.; Mrs. Glen Carlson, Craig, Nebr. She leaves also two brothers, And. Mattson, Craig, and one in Sweden; and thirty-one grandchildren. The funeral was held last Monday afternoon, services being conducted in the Congregational church at Uehling, by Rev. John Cedergren of Oakland. Oakland Independent.
