Services for Daniel “Dan” Lafayette Darr Sr., 82, of Moody will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 3 at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Mr. Darr passed away Thursday, August 28 at a local hospital. Daniel was born August 14, 1932 in Watt to Horace James and Viola Verue (Michum) Darr. He was a truck driver for most of his life working at American Rockwool, Killeen Transfer and Storage and Bell County Road Department. He was also an area homebuilder for over 25 years. Daniel was a member of the Belton Bass Club for over 40 years and enjoyed county western dancing. Daniel lived in Bell County for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marie Louise Darr in 1990; a daughter, Deborah Gonzalez; and a brother, James Darr. Survivors include his wife Linda Gene Mahan of Moody; 6 sons, Daniel L. Darr Jr. and Barbara of Elm Mott, Steven Darr and Cindy of Elm Mott, Darrell Darr of Belton, Duane Darr and Shari of Belton, Chuck Button and Candy of Morgans Point and Jim Button of Belton; 2 daughters, Charlotte Locklin and Gary of Temple and Cindy Darr Flores and Jose of Waco; 1 sister, Nancy Montroy of Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 2 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel.
