Anna Albina Gerik was born in house no 105 in the town of Veřovice, Nový Jičín District, Moravian-Silesian Region, in what is now the Czech Republic. Her birth record may be found in the online birth matrix of Veřovice as found in the online records of the Czech archive at Opava (left-hand page, third record from top): https://digi.archives.cz/da/permalink?xid=be875e9e-f13c-102f-8255-0050568c0263&scan=aba1431aca5742619460b7981ed87106 Anna was the only child of Augustin "August" Gerik (Geryk) and Magdalena Jerabek. She was about age 8 when they immigrated to the U.S. and settled in McLennan County, Texas. Her mother died when she was 18 and her father remarried; from that marriage she had four half-siblings. Anna was married on 17 Jun 1893 to Frantisek Karel "Frank Karl" Cernoch, at St. Martin's Church in Tours, Texas. Frank had also immigrated from Bohemia in 1891 and became a farmer in Tours. Anna had two children: daughter Emily Josephine and adopted son Daniel Joseph. The common headstone she shares with husband Frank has an inscription in Czech, "Odpocinte v pokoji po boji" - the English translation is "Rest in peace, the battle is over".
