Bio

Robert "Bob" Hilger, 80, passed away Monday August 25, 2014 from complications of diabetes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Friday Aug. 29th at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Gardner, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thurs. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel, where the Rosary will be said at 5:30PM. Private burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contribution to Wayside Waifs. Bob was born Nov. 15, 1933 in David City, NE to Harold and Frances Hilger. He was a Sgt. in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War and retired from Tyson Foods in 2001 after 27 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Michael Robert Hilger, his sister Jane Juarez and her husband Rome, his brother in law Merlin Franzen and 3 nephews. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sharon Hilger, their children; Susan and James Bohr, John and Yvonne Hilger, Julie and Devin Heese, and Anthony and Jennifer Hilger. 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Diane Franzen.
