Bio

Adell Ann Holick, of Terrell, Kaufman Co, TX, passed away peacefully Feb. 28, 2014 surrounded by family. She was born July 17, 1917 in Kaufman, TX to Joseph and Aloisie "Lucy" Reznicek, both of whom preceded her in death. Adell was also preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Stanley Holick, son, William Joseph Holick, sister, Mary, and brothers: Joe, Emil and Jerry Reznicek. Adell grew up in the Great Depression and she learned early on the value of hard work as well as making the most out of every blessing and opportunity. She had a servant's heart for others and her love for helping enabled her to continue her education and become a nurse. She worked in Terrell for Alexander and Colonial Hospitals as well as Terrell State Hospital. She was an amazing cook and she treasured the time that she was able to spend with her beloved family at home and at holiday gatherings. Watching sports with her family, especially baseball, was a favorite activity of Adell's and her appreciation for the Oakland A's was always well known. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and in her service she exemplified our Lord's commitment to giving to others. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and her example of selflessness will be a legacy each member of her family will continue to cherish. Adell is survived by her son, Rudy Holick of Terrell; grandchildren: Rudy Holick, Jr. and wife, Pam, Joni Lavin and husband, Robby, Tammy Beggs and husband, Billy, Gary Burden and wife, Sharon, Freddy Burden, Jr. and wife, Marsha, and Joey Holick and wife, Brigitte; great grandchildren: Casey, Brooke, Keely, Hunter, Daniel, Kristina, Dylan, Anaka, and Trinity; great-great grandchildren: Clayton and Addison; sister-in-law, caretaker and constant friend, Evelyn Reznicek as well as several other extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service was at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel. Interment followed at Oakland Memorial Park. The family received friends 6-8pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the funeral home.
