Bio

James F. Polk, resident of Foard County since 1903, died at his home in the Claytonville community. Services were held in the First Baptist Church in Crowell. A native of Johnson county, he moved to Vernon in 1899. He married Miss Annie Belle Wheeler on 14 August 1895 in Vernon. He moved to the Claytonville community in 1903, where he engaged in the cattle business until 1912. He began farming that year. Mr. Polk lived on one farm since 1920. He joined the Baptist Church in 1921. Surviving are his wife; two sons - Frank Polk and Tom Polk; six daughters - Mrs. Pearl Beesinger, Mrs. Charlie Beesinger, Mrs. Leyo Beggs, Mrs. Ruby Hallen, Mrs. Vernie Polk, Mrs. Annie LIttle; nine grandchildren; one brother - H.T.
