Bio

Oleta Anice Shortnacy Weitzel was the biological daughter of John Henry Shortnacy and Minnie Burton Singleton Shortnacy. Oleta was an infant when her mother was killed in a kitchen fire (which caught her hair on fire). She was subsequently raised by her maternal aunt Matilda Wagnon in Ada, Oklahoma, returning to the Dallas area after Matilda's death in 1935.
