Bio

Minnie Burton Singleton was born in Talladega County, Alabama, and came to Texas with her parents shortly after the turn of the century. She married John Shortnacy of the Heath area (Rockwall County) and became the mother of three sons and two daughters. Minnie died when her long hair caught fire on a wood stove. She ran outside, and her oldest son Arthur tackled her and rolled her on the ground in an attempt to put out the flames. She was very badly burned and did not survive. The picture I will upload is the only known picture of Minnie with Arthur when he was small. Her death at the age of 26 is made further tragic by the fact that we have been unable to determine the exact date of the fire and her death.
