J. B. Dowdy Funeral Is Held Sunday - Was a resident of Marshall County Half Century John Benjamin Dowdy, resident of Marshall county since 1895, died on Armistice Day at the home of a grandson, W. W. Mayberry, whom he was visiting in Guthrie, Okla. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Kingston Baptist church with the Rev. Hubb Bullman of Sulphur in charge, assisted by the Rev. J. W. Tenison of Kingston. Interment was at Kingston cemetery with Watt Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Dowdy, with his family, first settled in what is now old Woodville, later moving to Kingston. He had been a member of the Baptist church for the past 15 years. Surviving is four sons, Jim Dowdy, owner of Dowdy's Furniture Store here; Frank Dowdy and Authur Dowdy of Kingston; Hall Dowdy, California; three daughters, Mrs. Della White and Mrs. Beulah Gorrell of Kinston; Mrs. Ella Mayberry, Oklahoma City. He also leaves one brother M. L. Dowdy, of Clarett, Tex.; and one sister, Mrs. Barmore, Cleburne, Tex. Published in The Madill Record on November 16, 1944.
