[Omaha World Herald, Published March 29, 1951 ______________________________________________________________________________ From The Wolbach Messenger, May 10, 1951, page 8, transcribed by Linda Berney: Dr. Paul A. Bartunek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartunek, was born Nov. 8, 1896 in Wolbach, Neb. His early life was spent in Wolbach during which time he attended school and became intensely interested in music. He specialized in the violin and became a very fine player and performer. Dr. Bartunek graduated from the Wolbach High School in 1917 and then went to Midland College, Atchison, Kan, and finally to Creighton University where he graduated from the school of dentistry. His interest in playing the violin continued and he was able to finance much of his education through this means. Dr. Bartunek began practicing dentistry in Wolbach in 1924. He continued to practice in Wolbach until 1937. In 1937 the family moved to Loup City, Neb., where they remained until they came to Knoxville in 1941. Since that time he has practiced in Knoxville. His life was a varied one. Besides his interest in music and dentistry, he was an orchestra conductor at Norfolk, Neb (1919), a member of the American Legion and post commander of the Greeley County Post, and then while living in Loup City, he was finance officer of that post. He was a member of the Northwest Nebraska district dental society, a member of the legislative committee, a member of the Nebraska State Dental Assoc., a member of the Nebraska safety council, a member of the Loup City commercial club as well as a Rotarian. He was an ardent worker in the Masonic lodge. He held a membership in the B.P.O.E., and when he came to Knoxville, his concern for his community never ceased. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Wolbach, and when he and his family came to Knoxville, they brought their membership to the first Presbyterian church. In addition to these many interests, he was an ardent sportsman, hunter and fisherman. Dr. Bartunek was united in marriage to Lillian Hansen, Aug. 17, 1929. To this union three daughters were born: Beverly Jean, Paula Antonette and Sandra Ann. Dr. Bartunek passed away Monday, March 26, 19151 at Mercy hospital, Des Moines. He is survived by his wife Lillian and his three daughters; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartunek of Wolbach; his one sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Flynn, Fairmont, Minn; his mother-in-law, Mrs. H. C. Hansen of Omaha, Neb; two nieces, Roberta and Mary, as well as many other relatives and friends who have come to know and love him as their friend. Dr. Bartunek was deeply devoted to his family and friends. His passing has left us all with a deep sense of loss and he will always remain in our memory.
