Bio

Annie Holtman, 92, of Rowena and formerly of the Olfen community, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, in the Meadow Creek Nursing Home in San Angelo. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the church with the Rev. Father Stephen Kennelly officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Olfen. Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home. Mrs. Holtman was born Sept. 25, 1905, in Westphalia, Texas, to Joseph Kahlig and Matilda Rieger Kahlig. She married Ben Holtman on Sept. 8, 1925, in Westphalia. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1979. She also was preceded by her parents; and three brothers, Irwin, Leo and Joe. She lived in the Olfen community most of her life and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church prior to moving to Rowena and becoming a member of St. Joseph's. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Christian Mothers of Olfen. Survivors include two sons, Wilfred Holtman and his wife, Mary Ann, and Ray Holtman and his wife, Jane, all of Rowena; a sister, Tillie Smetana of Temple; three brothers, Clarence Kahlig of San Antonio, Ben Kahlig of Westphalia and George Kahlig of Temple; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
