Rites Held Friday For Joseph Vasicek Lifetime Resident of Valley Co. Dies Wednesday; Was a Former Supervisor Joseph Vasicek, 58, well known farmer of Michigan township, and a lifetime resident of Valley county, died Wednesday afternoon at the Ord hospital after a lingering illness. Five years ago Mr. Vasicek fell from a hay stack, and injuries received have kept him in poor health since that time. He was brought to the hospital two weeks ago. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the ZCBJ hall in Ord, with Rev. B. A. Filippi of Clarkson, Nebr., officiating. Interment was in the Ord Bohemian cemetery. Mr. Vasicek was active in the affairs of his township and county. He served 35 years on the school board of District 67, and eight years as assessor of Michigan township. He was a member of the board of county supervisors for several years and also served as a committeeman in the AAA program. He had been a member of the ZCBJ lodge since the age of 19. Joseph Vasicek was born April 29, 1889 in Valley county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vasicek. On October 1, 1912 he was married to Frances Parkos at the Geranium church. He is survived by his wife; three sons, James of Ord, Jerry of Kimball and Leo at home; one daughter, Mrs. James Turek of Ord, six grandchildren, and one brother, W. F. Vasicek of Ord.
