Bio

Gordon L. LaRue departed this life to be with his Lord on July 22, 2014. Gordon resided at The Meridian in Galveston and previously The Terrace in Houston. He was married to Maxine "Mackie" Menefee LaRue on October 12, 1987 and they were together up until her death on February 2, 2004. Gordon was born in Lovelady, Texas on January 12, 1918, graduated from Lovelady High School and was a 1939 graduate of the University of Texas, School of Pharmacy. He served during the 2nd Great War in the 178th General Hospital of the United States Army from 1941 thru 1945 and rose to the rank of Staff Sergent. Gordon founded LaRue's Pharmacy in Crockett, Texas, resided in Crockett a good portion of his life and practiced pharmacy for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his parents William Harris LaRue and Effie Hairston LaRue, sisters Loma Mayes and Lorene Hibbetts and brothers Glover G LaRue, William Tilford LaRue and Billy F LaRue. He is survived by brothers Odie LaRue and John H LaRue, both of Crockett, Texas along with a host of nieces and nephews. Gordon will be remembered as a gentleman in every regard and he will be dearly missed by family and friends. A memorial of his life will be held on Saturday August 2nd at 3:00 PM in The Meridian Chapel at 2228 Seawall Blvd., Galveston, Texas.
