Bio

Bryant was the son of Jacob Gilmore and Nancy Gulley. He married Charlotte Wilson in 1850, at Clarke County, MS. They moved to Texas in 1855 and settled in the Denson Springs area of Anderson County. He enlisted into service for the Confederacy at Palestine, TX and served in Company E, 37th Texas Cavalry, Captain Reuben A. Reeves, commanding. Bryant was in major battles in Louisiana at Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, Atchafalaya River, Yellow Bayou and Morgan's Ferry. The 37th was also known as The 34th Texas Cavalry Regiment.
