Bio

Dell Rita Svoboda, 87, of Ennis, passed away on July 20, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014, in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Henry Drozd as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Dell was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Henry and Annie (Darilek) Parma, and was one of 11 children. She traveled extensively, all over the world, during her marriage to Elvin "Czech" Svoboda of Moulton, Texas. She loved to barter and make deals in the Orient and to speed down the autobahn in Germany. She even got to visit her ancestor's homeland, Czechoslovakia. She raised her family for over 30 years in south Lousiana, Plaquemine, and Baton Rouge, was a wonderful Cajun cook, piano player, and loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin on March 15, 2010; and 11 siblings. Survivors include her sons, Mark Svododa and wife, Corliss, of Highlands, TX, and Alan Svoboda and wife, Sue, of Houston, TX; daughters, Renee Hill and husband, Tom, of Buda, TX, and Sandra Svododa, of New Braunsfels, TX; grandchildren: Michele Coco, of Birmingham, AL, Scott McDaniel, of Singapore, Lauren Svoboda, of San Marcos, TX , Stephen Hill, of Austin, TX, Ashley Hess, of Decatur, GA, Toni Wood, of Spring, TX, and Lisa Whitley, of LaDera Ranch, CA.; great-grandchildren: Camille Coco, Ayden and Landry Scarlett Hess, Katelyn Wood, and Lauren and Jack Whitley.
