Bio

Mrs. Edna E. Shewmaker, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis. She was born June 8, 1912 in Arkansas, the daughter of Joseph R. and Dora R. Jackson Whiteley. She was reared in Navarro and Kaufman Counties, attending school in Peeltown. In 1930 she was married to Isaac N. Stewart. After their marriage they lived in Peeltown. Mr. Stewart preceded her in death in March 1969. In 1971 she was married to John H. Shewmaker. After their marriage they lived in Ennis. She was employed at the Lone Star Laundry as a steam press operator from 1960 to 1976. Mr. Shewmaker preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of the Grace Temple Baptist Church. She is survived by 4 sons, Robert and his wife, Mittie Jo Stewart of Scurry, Travis and his wife, Velma Stewart of Euless, Jerry H. Stewart of Alma, Jackie and his wife, Tammy Stewart of Boyce; 3 daughters, Shirley Duckworth of Garland, Linda and her husband, Glenn Sandefer of Quinlan, Ruby and her husband, Charles Bolton of Alma; 2 brothers, Johnny R. Whiteley of Ennis and Carl Whiteley of Cisco; 22 grand-children; 44 great grandchild-ren; and 15 great great grand-children. She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Glenn Stewart in 1976, a sister, Pearl Tyre in 2004, 2 brothers, Obie and Ocie Whiteley, a great grandson, Ryan Lynn Freeman and a son-in-law, Sam Duckworth. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel with Rev. David Hall and Dan Rogers officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery in Kaufman County under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
