AUSTIN -- Lee VanPelt, 86, of 201 17th St. N.W., a former Hormel Foods Corp. employee and longtime area farmer, died Saturday morning (July 16, 1994) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin. He was born Dec. 5, 1907, in Ogden, Iowa. On Nov. 28, 1931, he married Blanche Sheedy at St. Augustine Church here and they farmed southwest of Austin for many years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William and Paul, both of Austin; a daughter, Lois (Mrs. Odean) Sola of Glenville, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Luella Mudra of Stewartville, Louina (Mrs. John) Nasby of North Bend, Ore., and Lola Guttormson of Loveland, Colo. A daughter and a great-grandson preceded him in death. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church here, with the Rev. Donald Zenk officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Austin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. today.
