Blanche M. VanPelt -- Austin Posted: Thursday, May 1, 2003 12:00 am | Updated: 2:49 pm, Tue Jan 8, 2013. Rochester Post Bulletin AUSTIN -- A funeral Mass for Blanche M. VanPelt will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Austin. Mrs. VanPelt, 94, of Austin, a homemaker, died Tuesday (April 29, 2003) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, where she had lived the past eight years. Blanche M. Sheedy was born July 6, 1908, in Oakland Township, Freeborn County. She attended a rural school through the seventh grade and Columbus School through the 12th grade. After graduation, she was a clerk at Montgomery Ward, Penney's and Kresge's in Austin. On Nov. 28, 1931, she married A. Lee VanPelt at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. He died July 16, 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Lois (Odean) Sola of Glenville, Minn.; two sons, William (Jackie) of Northfield, Minn., and Paul (Mary) of Austin; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Genevieve Reagan of Rose Creek. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a great-grandson, and her brothers and a sister. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin. A Council of Catholic Women rosary will be at 4 p.m. Friday and a wake service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
