Herald Coaster, December 14, 1999: Funeral services for Gerhardt Reinhold Wruck, 83, of Needville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth Street in Rosenberg. The Rev. Keith Massey will officiate. A Masonic graveside service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Members of the Masonic brotherhood will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 3103 School Street in Needville. Mr. Wruck died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was born May 15, 1916 in Damon, Brazoria County, to Sophie Besler and Henry Gustof Wruck. His mother had immigrated to the United States from the area of Kiev, South Russia at age 15. After graduation from high school, he entered the armed services where he served in the Corps of Engineers during World War II. He also spent army service time in the Japanese theatre of conflict. After finishing his stint in the armed services, he spent a period of time in the oilfields of Texas and Louisiana. He then settled into a retail and wholesale distributorship business, at different times with Sinclair, Phillips, and Texaco, around the Damon area. He also became a rancher with a ranch home in the bottomland of the Brazos River outside of Damon. He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners organization for 51 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavenia Wruck; his parents and his two brothers, Merle and Harvey. He is survived by his daughter, Toni Wruck Schultz of Damon; his sisters, Martha Fleming of Longview, Marion King of New Braunfels, and Annetta Shelton of Lake Belton; seven nieces, five nephews; six great-nieces; and six great-nephews. Memorials may be made in Mr. Wruck's memory to either the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children and Burn Institute or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
