Bio

Virgil E. Jones Grantsville- Virgil E. Jones, 71, of Stumptown, Gilmer County, died Saturday evening, June 1, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, following an extended illness. He was born on April 25, 1914, in Richwood, a son of Mrs. Minniver Pound of Glenville and the late Ira Watson Jones. His wife, Mrs. Thelma L. Jones survives. Also surviving three daughters, Mrs. Monoka Turner, Burnsville, Mrs. Retha Fishel, Mountain, and Mrs. Rita Hardman, Marietta, Ohio: two sons, Virgil Jones Jr., Midland, Texas, and Bobby Jones, Stumptown: two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Cool, Cox's Mills and Mrs. Blanche Gibson, Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Clyde Jones, Cox's Mills and Dana Jones, Dallas, Texas; one half brother, Virgil Losh, Gilmer; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and three grandchildren. Mr. Jones was a vetern of World War II. He was a retired coal miner and had attended the Church of God.
