Oklahoma ~ Carl W. Steward, 91, retired civil service United States Air Force, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chico Cemetery. Bill Steward will speak. Carl was born on May 23, 1923 to Jesse Brent and Lillie (Hanshaw) Steward in Hydro, Oklahoma. Carl was raised in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma on the family farm overlooking the Canadian River. He was united in marriage to Ernestine Herriott on January 26, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Carl proudly served his country with the United States Army and later with the United States Air Force, retiring as a contracting officer in procurement, civil service, with the USAF at Tinker AFB. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Delpha and Joe Steward. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Ernestine Herriott Steward of Wichita Falls; his son, Bill Steward and wife Kelly, of Henrietta, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Juanita Trent, Ina Sergesketter, and Nina Fields; his brother, Burt Steward and wife Barbara.
