He was the son of James and Ella Faye (Woods-Foland) Munyon. He married Marvel Louese Robison on 13 Sep 1942 in Cameron, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Dale Leslie Munyon; a sister, Bonnie Mae Schrodt; and a grandson, Roger Allen Munyon.
