Bio
Son of John & Cecelia (Jaax) Gabriel. Married to Eileen Karges on 5-22-1951 at Clarks, NE. He was raised on the farm and attended Fizzletown District 68 County School. A Veteran of World War II, Art served in the Medical Corps from April 1942 through January 1947 in Australia, the Phillipines and Japan. Upon returning home from the Service, Art farmed with his father until marrying Eileen Karges on May 22,1951 in Clarks,Nebraska. At that time he returned to the family farm where they lived until 1991 when he moved to Shelby and then to Columbus in 2002. Art enjoyed his family, grandchildren, baseball, (especially the New York Yankees), and dancing. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in rural Osceola, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby, and St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. He belonged to the American Legion and VFW in Osceola. Art was a life long enthusiast of local baseball and umpired Legion baseball for many years.
