Services for Bessie Mae Watts, age 86, of Columbia were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 from the Palestine Baptist Church, west of Columbia, with Rev. Charles Lutrick and Rev. Lester Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in the Palestine Cemetery. Mrs. Watts was born on May 20, 1920 in Columbia to the union of Thomas Armster and Katie Hargrove Butler and died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Palestine Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie Howard Watts and her brothers, Ivy Butler, Howard Butler and Clyde Butler. She was a precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children: Gary and Debbie Watts of Grayson, Sandra and Rick Richmond of Columbia, Brenda and David Ainsworth of Columbia; her grandchildren: Marcia Johnson and her husband, Darryl, Michael Richmond, Michelle Waggoner and her husband, Danny, Holly Sartin and her husband, Scott, Tanya Ainsworth, Jamie Watts and his wife, Teresa, Jason Watts and his wife, Courtney; her great-grandchildren: Alex Warner, Colin Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Kacey Johnson, Ryan Waggoner, Mason Waggoner, Chase Sartin, Anne Elise Sartin and Tyler Watts; her brother: Cecil Butler of Atlanta, GA and her sisters: Willie Mae Haddox of Alexandria and Ethel Faulks of Vernon, FL. Pallbearers were Rick Richmond, David Ainsworth, Michael Richmond, James Watts, Jason Watts, Darryl Johnson and Scott Sartin. Honorary pallbearer was Danny Waggoner.
